Know us, help us - 114 stories that help implement the child scheme

Response to the report “Know Us, Help Us” Diversion delivered the “Know Us, Help Us” report on September 20, 2022. The report is the conclusion of a collaboration between the Ministry of Finance, Diversion and 114 children of parents affected by the benefits affair. We thank the children very much for their participation and candor. Their input is very important for the development of an appropriate offer for emotional recovery for affected children. The report “Know us, help us” describes the environment and emotional recovery needs of affected children in a penetrating way. In addition, it builds on recommendations from the previous Life on the Road, Equal Recovery and Worthy Future reports. Together, these reports provide tools to best shape the emotional recovery for affected children. This will be followed up with affected children. Approach The findings from the reports have now been incorporated into a first proposal for implementing emotional recovery. The contours of this are included in the 12th progress report. In the coming months, this plan will be developed involving affected children again. It is a complicated task to translate the needs of the children we spoke to into a generic approach for the emotional recovery of all affected children. We are aware that, in some cases, this translation does not do justice to the complexity and diversity described in the reports. Nevertheless, we believe we have developed an implementation proposal for emotional recovery that meets the needs of a broad group of affected children. Thank you to all children who have contributed to the development of the proposal for implementing emotional recovery for their important contributions and involvement. It is admirable that, despite their suffering, these children still have the resilience to contribute to solving the benefits problem. We want to invest in further cooperation with the affected children. This is to provide a good and appropriate range of services and products for emotional recovery that will be available for all affected children in early 2023.
