Sandra Palmen continues to work on recovery for allowance parents

Sep 3, 2025

Sandra Palmen will continue working to recover from the suffering of benefit parents as an independent Secretary of State in the near future. The affected allowance parents deserve a quick and thorough settlement of the scandal. From the House of Representatives, the NSC Group also remains fully committed to a speedy recovery. We are grateful to Sandra for her work for the allowance parents and our party.

Sandra Palmen, Secretary of State for Recovery & Allowances:

“The interests of the affected benefit parents and their families come first. All parties involved made a heavy call on me to continue my work as Secretary of State. I will continue my work as a non-party Secretary of State to help affected parents and their families overcome the injustice. The benefits scandal has painfully shown how bad government action can crush people's lives. We need to fix that and prevent it in the future. As Secretary of State, I will continue to do that at full speed.”

Eddy van Hijum, New Social Contract party leader:

“The interests of the allowance parents come first. They have our special attention and can no longer wait to recover from the suffering. They deserve a quick and thorough settlement of the scandal and it is good that Sandra Palmen can continue her work. After retiring from the outgoing cabinet, we indicated that we were constructive. Sandra was busy repairing the suffering, smoothing out the file and solving the problems.”

As independent Secretary of State for Recovery and Allowances, Sandra Palmen takes a seat in the outgoing cabinet as a candidate for both VVD and BBB. She withdraws her NSC membership and is no longer eligible for the NSC list.
