Single-parent family allowance affair

Pixabay Allowance affair mainly affected single-parent familiesJuly 1, 2022, 7:15 AM General Read 170 timesThe benefits affair has particularly affected many single-parent families, many families with a migrant background and many low-income families. This is evident from data collected by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) on behalf of the Justice and Security Inspectorate. The JeNV Inspectorate is now further investigating why families who are victims of the childcare allowance affair have faced child protection measures. She is publishing the setup for this today. She wants to find out whether and how the government's failure in the benefits affair had an effect on youth protection. The CBS tables list characteristics of affected families such as household composition, educational level, origin, country of origin, main source of income, household income and wealth. This is the first factual picture of the (un) known group of victims of the benefits affair so far. Since 2005, tens of thousands of parents were wrongly suspected of fraud with childcare allowance. They got into financial problems because they had to repay a lot of money to the tax authorities. The government and the judiciary did not protect them against this. As a result, the fundamental principles of the rule of law have been violated.First image of duped parentsThe CBS tables show that the benefits affair mainly affected many single-parent families, many families with a migration background, many low-income families, many families with social assistance and many families with low or negative equity. The JenV Inspectorate also wants to know whether allowance parents may have been treated unequally. To answer the inspection question, CBS is now collecting the characteristics of families that have not been affected by the benefits affair. In order to find out whether affected allowance families were more likely to face a child protection measure (with or without a retirement) than unaffected families in otherwise similar characteristics and circumstances.Second substudyThe second sub-investigation carried out by the JenV Inspectorate includes a deepening of the CBS results. For example, it should clarify why affected families faced child protection measures, whether the benefits affair may have triggered the measure for them or accelerated that process. The findings should also indicate which factors played a role and what the areas for improvement are. The JenV Inspectorate involves parents, external experts and employees from the youth protection chain in this study. For example, she wants to interview affected families about their experiences. The JenV Inspectorate is not authorized to determine whether a child was rightly removed from home or not.See also www.inspectie-jenv.nl
