Mark Rutte officially resigned as prime minister last week. Before the fall of Rutte IV, the Rutte III cabinet fell due to the benefits affair. The new cabinet, Rutte IV, promised improvement, but the situation only worsened further. Benefits parent Kristie Rongen shared a long thread on X painting a disconcerting picture of the situation. She criticizes the Implementation Organization for the Recovery of Allowances (UHT), which, according to her, has only made the problems worse. “It's pure political unwillingness,” Rongen writes.

Rongen showed Rutte a video in which a child was dragged out of the house. Rutte responded by saying that he found that “terrible”. Allowance parents call these types of situations state abductions. After the relaunch of the Rutte IV cabinet, a Minister for Legal Protection came, but according to Rongen, nothing has come of it. “Only a handful of more than 3,000 children have come home,” she sighs. “They let Youth Care 2.0 run without solutions.”
During the suspension of a debate, Rongen asked Rutte how long the children still have to wait. She insists that allowance parents are still being mentally abused under the guise of recovery that is not recovery. “We will continue, not stop, we want justice. That must be done for our future and our children. We will break circles. '
A letter to Parliament last year showed that a total of 482 children of victims died. The largest group, 353 children, was under 5 years old. This means that by far the majority of deceased benefit children were minors.
