Accelerated processing of additional damage for allowance parents starts

The Ministry of Finance and the Foundation for (Equal) worthy Recovery are starting today with an alternative route for expedited processing of additional damage suffered by benefit parents. In developing this new damage route, we worked together with parents and independent personal injury experts. The route offers parents their own control and works on the basis of a claims framework with fixed amounts.

This is what Secretary of State De Vries for Surcharges and Customs writes in a letter to the House of Representatives. The alternative damage route is intended for affected parents who still have additional damage after the comprehensive assessment. So far, they can only contact the Actual Damage Commission (CWS), which makes a precise, individual damage calculation. However, many parents have indicated that they would like to have more control over the claims process. That's why this alternative route is now being added to the CWS route.

Parents are specifically invited to the starting phase of the alternative route. This is done in consultation with various organizations that currently assist affected parents, such as lawyers, care workers and municipalities. By inviting people with different types of damage, the organizations involved can best learn what is important in the process of emotional and financial recovery. People who have been waiting a long time for their damage to be dealt with are also approached. The implementation lies with the recently established (Equal) worthy Recovery Foundation.

The new claims route will be gradually scaled up to offer 300 to 1,000 parents the opportunity to participate in the coming months. It is intended that this damage route will be opened to all parents with additional damage early next year. The new route will be evaluated before the end of the year.
