Who is Chris van Dam

Chris van Dam (1963). I live in The Hague, I am married and have three children who are studying. In 1985, I came from Apeldoorn (where I grew up) to The Hague, where I joined the police. As an inspector and chief inspector, I held various positions in the investigation, the Mobile Unit, personal security, the immigration service and various other organizational units. In addition to my work, I studied law at Erasmus University in Rotterdam.
In 1997, Chris made the switch to the Public Prosecutor's Office, successively in Dordrecht, The Hague, Haarlem, Amsterdam and (again) The Hague. He combined the substantive profession of prosecutor with leadership positions: from team leader to deputy chief officer. In 2006, he successfully completed a master's degree in public management.
In 2017, Chris was sworn in as a member of the House of Representatives (CDA Group) where he was active in the Justice and Security (including MH17), Kingdom Relations and Digitization portfolios. He was a member of the Parliamentary Interrogation Committee on Fiscal Structures (Panama Papers), the Temporary Committee on Digital Future and Chairman of the Parliamentary Childcare Allowance Interrogation Committee. This chamber membership ended in 2021.
In addition to his work, Chris has been involved in the care of former convicts for years (chairman Exodus The Hague), has been chairman of one of the largest neighborhood associations in The Hague (Vogelwijk) and is currently chairman of the board of Stek (City and Church, the implementing organization of the Hague Protestant diacony).
