Conversations with these young people have made it clear that the consequences are still felt on a daily basis." This is stated in the parliamentary letter sent to the House of Representatives on September 25, 2026, by State Secretary for Justice and Security Claudia van Bruggen, State Secretary for Benefits Restoration Sandra Palmen, and State Secretary for Long-term Care, Youth and Sport Mirjam Sterk.

Ministry of Finance files report on suspected crimes
The Ministry of Finance has filed a report with the Public Prosecution Service regarding the suspicion of two possible crimes related to the childcare benefits fraud investigations: the official misconduct of extortion by a public official and the crime of professional discrimination. The Public Prosecution Service will investigate the report. The report concerns activities of the Tax Authorities, more specifically the Fraud Management Team, the Facilitator Approach Combiteam, and the Benefits Directorate. This covers the period from 2013 to 2017.
